Our commitment to patients and community includes our continuing education course, held at the Valley Dental Arts Lab in Stillwater, MN. The course provides 2 CE credits on the subjects of Cone Beam Computed Tomography and how it aids in treatment planning for doctors and radiologic technologists. It was presented this month free of charge by instructor Dr. Lauren Kuhn.

What is CBCT?

Cone Beam Computed Tomography or CBCT is an advanced form of X-ray which utilizes a cone shaped beam to scan and collect images of the mouth, jaw, and face. Viewed in 3D, a CBCT scan provides detailed images that can be viewed from different angles, providing doctors with valuable information for treatment planning.

About the CBCT Course

Our evening course included thorough coverage of these subjects:

Offering hands-on experience, the course was designed to help doctors and radiologic technologists learn how to use CBCT scanners, as well as learning how to best utilize the images they create to better serve patients.

Because CBCT scans provide intricate details that other X-ray images may not show, they allow doctors to use visual investigation in order to design the most successful treatment plans, plans that better address patients’ conditions and create more positive outcomes.

Course Benefits

The hands-on experience provided in this single 2 hour course trained participants in using a CBCT scanner and reading images. Along with this knowledge and practice enhancing class, dinner and appetizers were also provided.

Instructor Dr. Lauren Kuhn received her doctor of dental medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and completed her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
